Analyzing diverse written, visual, and oral sources, Giedrė Mickūnaitė explores the construction of his image, revealing how contemporaries and subsequent generations created conflicting narratives of a "great ruler" or a "tyrant" based on the same biographical, political, and cultural evidence.
